I’d recommend Earl Giles over union buster-owned Young Joni (purely on pizza quality, but the union busting helps). Incredible list from this visit tho, Francis is life-changing
I bash Netflix whenever possible, but that's 100% to blame on the Prince estate. Edelman didn't produce 9 hours of hagiography and the estate took away their blessing. (I assume you know; that's for other people reading this.)
yes I appreciated that in Edelman’s recent interview on Pablo Torre’s show, he made it clear that the stakes are greater than just this one project (that he worked on for 5 years!) It’s about preventing a journalistic approach from being totally overrun by hagiography.
You know what, if Chet Hanks wants to do some early 2000s white boy rock and rope his dad in for the music video to bring some City Of Crime energy and give him a hug, then I'm all for it.
Also: Chet Hanks is good on Running Point. Patrick Schwarzenegger is GREAT on The White Lotus. I celebrate all good 2nd generation actors. (I'm open to other ideas to replace the "nepo baby" slur.) If they're no good, you'll forget they exist within 6 months.
Emma Roberts should have a much better career than she does, so nepotism is a myth anyway. Put HER in rom-coms, not the dead-eyed likes of Sydney Sweeney. Roberts can actually do the "com" half of the job.
I use 'Not interested/Don't recommend channel' like a fiend, so my YouTube feed is SO tasteful and morally pure. Still, a fake James Bond trailer (starring Henry Cavill and Margot Robbie) slipped through the other day, with the predictable MILLIONS of views.
What percentage of viewers know it's fake but are curious about how well it's made? Can't be more than 1 percent, right?
Shouldn't all misinformation be taken down? That's all they are.
There are other reasonable objections to generative AI, but before you "educate" your loved ones on the environmental impact I recommend this piece, which gets into the practical reality of the numbers in a way that the linked-to MIT piece mostly doesn't: https://andymasley.substack.com/p/individual-ai-use-is-not-bad-for
Wow, JJ hit a lot of my favorite places in Minneapolis. Good work!
Hoping to get to Gai Noi and Young Joni next time I’m in town.

No plans to bust any unions here, Earl Giles it will be. (I need to get back to Francis immediately.)
I came here to say the same thing!
Can Chip Smith free Ezra Edelman's Prince documentary from the Netflix vaults next?

Truly, the Chip Report theme gives me so much joy every time I hear it.
The only people who need to apologize about the Amy Winehouse movie are the makers of the Amy Winehouse movie, Marisa included.

Wait, I’m just now getting the reference… which well known director is disavowing the Blank Check podcast while also editing it??
